ORIGINAL STORY: Sean McDowell's Nike Air Max Plus from 1998 has gone from innovative runner to street-style staple over the last 27 years. Throughout history, the silhouette has amassed a healthy catalog of ensembles that further cement it within the fashion space.

Ahead of 2026, original Tuned Air-cushioned sneaker has surfaced in a handful of makeovers that explore different material and color executions. Its latest takes on a "Black/Chalk/Baroque Brown/Linen" medley of tones. On paper, the color palette falls in line with seasonal takes from the Nike Sportswear catalog, but a quick glance at the pair reveals a much more involved presentation.

The sneaker maintains its iconic build, but sees its mesh base overtaken by a hexagon pattern done in a light yellow hue. Profile swooshes, whale tail-shaped shanks underfoot, and Air Max cushioning indulge in a darker shade of yellow. Emblems on the top-of-the-tongue see a golden bee graphic that reveals the inspiration behind the Air Max Plus; the same image is embroidered behind the tongues. The sneaker evokes images of the "Honey Black" Corteiz Air Max 95 collaboration from April, taking the project's nickname quite literally.

Enjoy official photos of the "Black Honey" makeover ahead. Pairs should release via Nike.com by April 2026 for around $190.
