Just Dropped // Nike Air Max Plus “Reverse Sunset”
Though Nike was built on the back of innovation — and continues to expand its product through it — a large part of their profits come directly from heritage lines. While those like the Air Max Line and Air Force 1 are often retooled, redesigned, or reimagined — like the upcoming Air Max Plus Terrascape — their core retro product is by far their best sellers. Keeping that nostalgia alive is a fine art, though it’s evident that, aside from original colorways, OG-inspired offerings work best (Think Jordan Brand’s countless Black/Red arrangements). The TN is one of those that frequently revisits its roots, and this upcoming Nike Air Max Plus “Reverse Sunset” is a prime example of just how Nike continues to fuel the retro flame.
Just as the Infrared is tied to the Air Max 90, the Sunset is to the Air Max Plus. And like Tinker’s OG, it’s been reimagined too many times to count. This next one is essentially a straight swap of upper and vein overlays, with the once-gradient-riddled mesh now jet black, and the caging now donning the fiery ombre. There are a few other tweaks, too, including color placements to the midfoot shank, outsole and Air supports, as well as a material change on the guard from nubuck to nylon. Remaining true to the pairs OG is the signature TN and Swoosh branding and piercing white midsoles.
An official release date for the pair is still unknown, but you should expect to see this Nike Air Max Plus “Reverse Sunset” sneak into select retailers and Nike.com as we edge closer to the tail-end of Summer/Fall.
