Nike Adds Turned Air Cushioning to the Waffle Racer

Nike continues to innovate its icons by blending distinct elements from its rich design history, and the new Nike Air Max Waffle SP is a testament to this creative approach.

Revealed during the latest SNKRS Showcase, this hybrid sneaker combines designs from seemingly opposite ends of Nike’s spectrum, creating a truly unique piece.

The Air Max Waffle SP merges the classic simplicity of the Waffle Trainer with the futuristic, dynamic sole unit of the Air Max Plus. Described as “hallucinogenic” during its showcase, the sneaker demonstrates how contrasting design languages can result in a surprisingly cohesive look. This effect is enhanced by the introduction of “Waffle” traction on the Air Max Plus outsole, which, against the odds, integrates smoothly into the overall design.

The sneaker will debut in two vibrant colorways: “Action Green” and “Voltage Purple.” The "Action Green" version emphasizes the stark contrasts of its construction with neon tones that delineate the upper and lower sections of the shoe. The "Voltage Purple" style is a direct nod to the original Air Max Plus of the same name.

The Nike Air Max Waffle SP is slated for release this holiday season, with these initial colorways followed by more options in 2025.
