Nike continues to push the limits of archival and futuristic design with the upcoming release of the Nike Air Max Waffle SP “Matte Olive.” Following the same bold tooling seen on earlier iterations of the model, this latest colorway delivers a rugged aesthetic with materials and hues suited for the transition into fall.

Built with a mix of ripstop nylon and hairy suede overlays, the upper combines muted olive tones with deep, earthy greens for a trail-ready finish. A jet-black leather Swoosh cuts through the lateral side, while tonal mesh tongues and laces help balance the textural contrast. The signature heel branding is gold against black leather, echoing early 2000s Nike ACG influences.

The shoe’s standout feature remains the bottom half: a sculpted foam midsole with visible Air in the heel for lightweight cushioning and impact absorption. Below that sits an exaggerated waffle-tread outsole, finished in classic gum rubber to nod back to Bill Bowerman’s original waffle-soled prototypes—now repurposed for urban utility.

This “Matte Olive” colorway is one of two gum-soled pairs expected to arrive this season, appearing alongside a “Sail” version.

Expect a release later this fall on Nike.com and select retailers for $145.
