A constant feature of the Swoosh’s year-round retro lineup, the Nike Air More Uptempo has enjoyed a long, strong run of recent colorways. It comes after a brief hiatus on the back of an epic push kick-started by a trio of Supreme collaborations back in 2017. With most releases for the past 18 months slipping into retailers unnoticed, it unlikely that this effort will serve the same fate given its mix of premium, intriguing, and themed finishes.
Color-wise, that pair is anchored in basic black, but its construction reveals details never before seen on the silhouette; From ballistic mesh uppers to toe and heel panels of pony hair, to glow-in-the-dark-soles and holographic overlays, the sneaker is full-to-the-brim of intrigue. It’s the latter that provides the pair’s character, sporting a myriad of Utagawa Kuniyoshi-influenced art and motifs, with each letter panel providing its own unique art form. The lateral side works up to a geisha-like figure, to the medial heel and tongue’s skeletal illustrations. Insoles follow suit, while sole units of black and glow arrive underfoot to complete the design.
A release date for this new Utagawa Kuniyoshi-inspired Nike Air More Uptempo has not yet been set, but it is likely that we’ll see these hit Nike.com soon (possibly in time for the Olympics next month). Until then, enjoy a detailed look at the pair here below, and be sure to keep your eyes glued to our official Twitter account for further updates.
