Retro sneaker fans will rejoice in knowing another Nike Air Tailwind 79 is set for a 2020 release — and if it looks a little familiar here’s why; previously announced here just last month was the similarly-colored Tailwind 79 “Michigan”, but true Nike nerds will see inspiration drawn from the OG Waffle trainer from 1976 that adorns and almost-identical Royal and Gold aesthetic.
The upper is constructed in a myriad of materials, including suede, mesh, leather, and nylon that secures its vintage appeal. Tonal “Game Royal” blue saturates the mesh upper and suede overlays which play as the perfect foundation for the “Laser Orange” retro Swoosh. At the pairs bedrock lies the all-white Air-filled midsole and black rubber outer sole. Completing the throwback thematic is a sail nylon tongue complete with an OG-inspired tag.
