In a perfect juxtaposition, the Nike Daybreak Type has served as a no-hold-barred testing ground for color, material, and texture. Fittingly, its heritage inspiration, the Nike Daybreak, was a leader in color experimentation, though it always remained true to era-preferred materials. The Type brings both its heritage design and its penchant for experimentation with the modern era’s fixation on the weird and wonderful. The next to do so brings a little bit of everything and more, with each panel, overlay, and embellishment arriving in its own unique finish.
Starting from the toe box back, we see Leroy Smith-like striped toe caps overlaying a French lace-like textile at the toe. In contrast to the light, brights at the toe, pinstripe textile overlays provide a border between soft peach nylon uppers, the latter housing a thick-stitched purple Swoosh. Eyelet and rear overlays arrive in a thick-cut felts, while the soft embroidered ripstop tongues are countered by a hardened powder blue heel clip in the rear. Surprisingly, the sole unit remains unchanged, arrive in the most basic of finishes: white and black.
With pairs already available on the market in Asia (and subsequently, now on eBay) we won’t have to wait too long to see these hit global Nike.com sites.
