Like many basketball-specific sneakers from the bygone era, the Nike Dunk has become more impactful off the court than on it. But if you know about the sneaker’s history, and the history of the sport behind it, you’ll recognize that the sneaker is and always will be an icon of basketball. Honoring that biography, Nike often celebrates parts of the game — big or small — on the silhouette. Take this new Nike Dunk High “I Got Next” design, which celebrates the pickup game.

Despite the lateral ankle letter mark, the pair is not very overt in its grassroots inspiration, with iridescent blue hues working with patent leathers not typically assigned to blacktops or local gymnasium courts. On the medial side, you’ll find bright white Swooshes that marry up to the laces, liners, and midsoles, before blue returns to the pair underfoot by way of the pair’s icy-translucent outsoles.

Though the concrete inspiration is not yet known it will likely be revealed soon with an official statement from the brand.
