Peter Moore designed the Nike Dunk Low in 1985 with one purpose: to perform on the basketball court. Forty years later, the old school silhouette has become one of the brand's most important and popular offerings.
Throughout the years, the sneaker has lived many lives, helping launch and establish Nike SB, while also serving as the platform for several high-profile collaborations. The model's inline catalog, however, has help Moore's design maintain relevance, delivering a healthy mix of heritage and modern, fashion-forward looks. The latter category will soon include a "Platinum Violet/Sail" color scheme that aligns with the Swoosh's seasonal offerings.
The two-tone finish divvies up real estate fairly evenly across the 40-year-old blueprint, although the faint purple accompanies a pitch "White" midsole underfoot. The color duo makes a statement on its own, but shares the spotlight with the ornately-detailed profile swooshes and Achilles' heel overlay. Both elements feature an etched finish that Nike Sportswear bets will appeal to women consumers.
Firm Nike.com release details haven't been disclosed by the brand as of yet, but pairs of the Dunk Low should begin to arrive by July. In the meantime, enjoy official photos of the sneakers below.
