Nike Dunk Low “Rooted in Peace” Arrives May 31st
After appearing online late last week, this Peace Sign-signalling Nike Dunk Low “Rooted in Peace” has now appeared in detail, thanks to official imagery of the pair surfacing online today. With said imagery comes further insight into its story, with previously-identified Peace Sign and Sashiko uppers linking with fresh new identifiers to complete the puzzle. The lateral ankle Peace sign actually has rooted feet, and with a bevy of accompanying gardening-inspired pins, and a special bandanna-like cloth complete with garden tools, the theme becomes more obvious. Special-edition boxing that identifies the Rooted in Peace theme, and even reads “Gardener Dunk” in Japanese for those fluent enough to read.
Gardening in Japan is touted as a source of release, with benefits for both the Earth and the individual. Tranquil gardens in the nation eliminate that aura by just being in their presence. And as it appears, Nike is aiming to replicate that through these special-edition Dunk Lows. Further to the aforementioned design cues, Sashiko-stitched denim uppers are reminiscent of traditional Japanese workwear, while tongue and heel overlays of green appear to fit Nike’s Move to Zero agenda. Given that the entire release is framed as positive for the Earth, it’s likely that other materials will be of recycled nature, too.
A release for the Nike Dunk Low “Rooted in Peace” is expected to land in Asia in May, though a Stateside release is yet to be confirmed. Until further details emerge, you can grab an official look at the pair here below, and you’ll want to make sure that you’re tuned into our official Twitter account for updates.
