Nike’s first true hands-free shoe certainly had an explosive impact on the market. It was unveiled on February 1st of 2021 and subsequently launched on April 30th, and, like most releases, was sold out in minutes. It seems the resellers had no soul, snapping up accessible kicks from the hands of those differently-abled, and there was a slew of criticism following almost immediately after — inclusive of viral TikTok videos, blog posts, and overarching outcry amongst sneakerheads. It’s been a while since its tumultuous debut releases, but the dust has settled on the silhouette, meaning those who are differently abled may easily get their pair.
For the differently-abled, the breakthrough design is huge, as previous iterations of FlyEase found on everything from Air Max to Air Jordan options have required some initial setup, whereas this really does not. The laceless pair’s bi-stable hinge found at the midfoot is coupled with a tension band that runs the length of the midsole, and creates a true hands-free “on” and “off” functionality.
Next up is this salmon and hot pink arrangement, with complimentary hues of white and black grounding the pair into some familiarity. Here, the light reddish-pink upper and midsole sling arrive in color-matched salmon, whilst the rear clips and glazer overlays sport more of a candy color. Heel and toes both boast black finishes, with midsoles of white hosting outsoles split evenly between pink and black.
An official Nike.com release date hasn’t been confirmed by the brand, but we’re not expecting to see these hit the official Nike webstore until late 2022.
