The Nike ISPA Drifter Split “Natural” Arrives September 30th
While there will always be an undying love for the leather and suede-clad classics from last century’s designs, the future of footwear lies within renewable, breathable, and often obscure fibers. Though Nike’s bottom line is bolstered by its retro line, it’s preparing for the future through many avenues, including Space Hippe, Move to Zero, and ISPA campaigns. Though the two former’s foremost focus is on sustainability, ISPA is intriguing as it has become the pinnacle experimental expression of Nike design across all categories. That means you’ll never quite know what you’re getting from the division which has no barriers. But after Nike Japan unveiled a limited collection of indigo-dyed Nike ISPA Drifter Splits, you could kinda guess that an “Natural” — or undyed” version would follow shortly after.
Joining the unadulterated hemp mesh upper are natural suede overlays, cork panels plastered on at the ankle (and peppered through the heel and outsole plates), and non-inked textile pulls, laces, and leathers. The result? An earthy light-tan fixture with pops of dark amber and white throughout — glorious garb for such a gaudy design.
Nike Japan has a release date marked for September 15th, but as with any regional release, you can expect to see these hit global aftermarket sites shortly thereafter. Until then, grab a look at the official images below.
