Kevin Durant draws a lot of hate for many things, form leaving OKC to form an unprecedented NBA superteam to self-defending burner accounts on social media — but one can’t discredit his compassion for those who are currently, and have suffered from Breast Cancer. His continued support of the Kay Yow Cancer Fund is a testament to Durant’s character. His “Aunt Pearl” series, which serves as a platform to honor his late aunt, has continued to raise funds for charity for nearly a decade through special release signature sneakers. This year’s effort utilizes a full spectrum of pink — a welcome change from the previous two tonal takes — ranging from barely-there pink on the velour tongues, liners, and Swooshes, to hot pink marbleized sole units and contrast stitching. Floral underlays at the heel are reminiscent of the KD 6 and 8 editions, while the unmistakable angle wing lacestay overlay from the KD 5 returns, this time in pastel pink. “Aunt Pearl” embroidery hits grace the tongues, with the underside sending a message the embodies the spirit of the sneaker series. Insoles should look familiar, too, with a geometric print ripped straight from the KD 5, and a special 3D embroidered KD logo hits the heels completes the design.
The Nike KD 12 “Aunt Pearl” has typically arrived in the new year, but with official images touching down on Nike servers late yesterday, we’re expecting a release to follow in the coming weeks. Make sure you keep your eyes locked on our Twitter Feed for further updates!
