Kevin Durant’s annual “Aunt Pearl” editions have produced some of the most sought-after sneakers in his 14-year-old signature line, but more importantly, they have continued to raise awareness for the perils of breast cancer, and how it can affect one-in-three people the world over. Now, for the eleventh time, Durant will use his platform to both honor his late Aunt, and to drive cancer research funding through a partnership with the Kay Yow Cancer Fund with the Nike KD 14 “Aunt Pearl” for 2022

Once more, Durant returns to signature breast cancer awareness hues of pink to play the key part, with pastels draping the majority of the shoe, save a few splashes of saturation and a handful of golden touches. The latter informs the tongue and insole branding, as well as the gum rubber outsole beneath, but its tonal pinks which work through the pair, with contrasting shifts in tone and material as the pair’s most intriguing details. From topographic-like uppers to fine mesh tongues and the signature angel wings detail done at the heel, the pair is packed with subtle textures. Smooth forefoot overlays counter all of this, with its low-gloss finish adding an angelic touch. The pair is then completed by some atypical Aunt Pearl finishes, including gradient and splattered midsoles, and the aforementioned gum rubber outsole.
