Following in the footsteps of fellow Nike athlete and close friend LeBron James, Kevin Durant will see his back catalog of sneakers begin a retrospective run concurrent to his active status on an NBA roster — an honor typically bestowed upon athletes after they retire. But with the demand for the Slim Reaper’s past sneakers — mostly his early models — slowly growing, now seems the right time to bring them back. Starting with the legendary Nike KD 3 “All-Star” in February, the Swoosh is poised to subsequently bring new colorways into the fold, the first of which has appeared today by way of official Nike.comimagery, the Nike KD 3 “White Gold”
Decked out in a decadent color scheme, the Leo Chang-designed sneaker works almost exclusively in elegant hues of white, sail, and gold, save a few extremely fine hints of red. Here, the upper omits the staple synthetics in favor of a low-gloss cream weave, with buttery white leather overlays acting as a frame. The Swoosh trim, midfoot shank, and branding at the tongue, insole, and heel all feature a metallic gold finish, with a milky, semi-translucent rubber outsole rounding out the design.
