Nike is expected to bring back the Nike Kobe 8 “Shanghai Fireworks” in Holiday 2026, marking the return of one of the more recognizable regional colorways from the Kobe line’s original run per Zsneakerheadz and Sneakerfiles. The pair was first released as part of Nike Basketball’s China-focused offerings, tied to Kobe Bryant’s deep connection with the region during the height of his playing career.

The “Shanghai Fireworks” colorway features a multicolored engineered mesh upper built around red, orange, and yellow tones, designed to evoke the energy and movement associated with its namesake. A black Swoosh provides contrast along the side panels, while a translucent outsole completes the look. The overall execution leans expressive, but remains grounded in the Kobe 8’s performance-first design language.
From a tooling standpoint, the Kobe 8 remains one of the line’s lightest and lowest-profile models, known for its responsive court feel and minimal construction. Those attributes have aged well as demand continues to shift toward low-cut, speed-oriented basketball shoes, both for on-court use and casual wear.
The return of the Nike Kobe 8 “Shanghai Fireworks” fits within Nike’s ongoing Protro-era approach, which has included a mix of core colorways and select regional releases rather than broad, volume-driven retros. While specific Protro updates have not yet been detailed, the model is expected to retain the streamlined profile that defined the original.
The Nike Kobe 8 “Shanghai Fireworks” is currently slated to return in Holiday 2026, with pricing and release details to be announced closer to launch.
