Bespoke by Bandulu.
While Kyrie Irving’s future with the Celtics — and the city of Boston — done and dusted, this all-new collaboration with Boston-based brand Bandulu will be a strong final send-off for his fans in Bean Town. He will be leaving the parquet floorboards for Brooklyn’s Barclays Arena, but he will be leaving behind this special Bandulu x Nike Kyrie 5 as a little memento for the city that hosted the star guard for just two seasons.
Bandulu founder Pat Peltier is known for upcycling vintage apparel from Nike and other brands to create brand-new handmade pieces that have been spotted on the likes of Drake, Serena Williams, 2 Chainz and more. Bandulu has opted to apply their DIY ethos liberally to the Kyrie 5. The pair, which surfaced late yesterday, sports a cream base covered in off-the-wall embroidered paint splatters, with some dripping down from the ankle to the midsole. More embroidery makes its way to the medial Swoosh, “Kyrie Irving” forefoot Flytrap detail and co-branded heels. Soft olive green liners, tongues and co-branded tongue tags add intrigue, while blood-red midsole and classic gum rubber outsole complete the design.
Pairs of the Bandulu x Nike Kyrie 5 will be touching down at select retailers like Finish Line, Jimmy Jazz and directly from Nike.com on Friday, August 23rd, in both men’s and grade school sizing. While you wait n the release, take a peep at the official image set below, and further, a feature video from VICE, who caught up with Pat, learned about his process and the release and sees him unboxing the release for the first time.
