All-Star Weekend in Chicago lends itself to an overflow of Michael Jordan-tributed pieces, from Virgil Abloh’s OG Air Jordan 5-inspired OFF-WHITE effort to Don C’s rumored Just Don x Air Jordan 2 “Chicago” — we’ll even see an Air Jordan 1 and 3 that pay tribute to the once-mighty Bulls. Kyrie Irving will also pay tribute to the legend by way of a dual Championship-celebrating release; the Nike Kyrie 6 “Trophies”
Flaunting the famous Bulls Black and Red, the pair opts for a predominant use of the latter for it’s upper, with forefoot weave, midfoot straps, patent leather ankle panels, and rubberized heel pieces all arriving in red hues. The forefoot of the outsole arrives in red, too, before migrating to white in the rear, while sparingly used hits of lack pop at the midsole and laces. Metallic Gold, which represents the Larry O’Brien Trophy, garnishes the midsole, tongue branding, Swooshes, and outsole fleck, with special forefoot “06/16/96” and “06/19/16” embroidery — the dates in which MJ and Kyrie won C’hips — compliment in a golden thread. Capping off the design is a graphic inner lining pattern that closely resembles the carpet in which MJ collapsed into tears after winning his first NBA since losing his father in 1996.
Lovers of the Kyrie line can look for the Nike Kyrie 6 “Trophies” to release during the 2020 NBA All-Star Weekend festivities at select retailers and Nike.com on February 14th for $140.
