Nike’s Mind Science division is continuing to evolve its recovery-focused footwear line, with the Nike Mind 001 Flyknit “Hyper Royal” introducing Flyknit construction to the silhouette for the first time outside of its fragment design debut earlier this year.
Set to release on May 27 for $95 via Nike.com, the new colorway pushes the Mind 001 further into performance-recovery territory while maintaining the experimental aesthetic that has quickly become synonymous with the line.
Unlike the original Mind 001 builds, which relied on smoother-molded uppers, this “Hyper Royal” edition features a textured Flyknit forefoot panel that stretches across the vamp in deep black tones. The woven construction adds both breathability and softness to the slip-on model, while preserving the sculpted foam shell and exaggerated outsole tooling that define the silhouette.
The rest of the design leans heavily into bold contrast. A darkened upper fades into vivid Hyper Royal foam walls, while volt-green pressure-point pods underfoot create one of the model’s loudest visual executions yet. Inside, the bright blue footbed and glowing circular cushioning graphics further reinforce Nike’s “Mind Science Department” identity, which continues to blur the line between recovery product and futuristic concept footwear.
There’s also a growing sense that Nike is positioning the Mind series similarly to how it once handled Space Hippie — introducing unconventional footwear concepts through limited collaborations before expanding them into broader in-line offerings. The addition of Flyknit only strengthens that connection.
