Nike’s latest accessory drop, the OG Flame Cap, has sparked serious heat—literally and figuratively. Released quietly online on April 1 in three colorways (Black, Gym Red, and Midnight Navy), the flame-embroidered cap sold out within hours. A follow-up release via JD Sports, which carried only the Midnight Navy version, went out of stock even faster.
Each hat features a bold, slightly curved brim and unique flame embroidery across the front panel and brim, giving it distinct Y2K energy. But the real buzz isn’t just about the design—it’s about what it resembles.
Fans online, particularly in Kanye West (now Ye) fanbases, were quick to point out the striking similarity between the Nike's product and the YEEZY GAP Flame Cap, engineered by Balenciaga and launched in 2022. That cap, which came in a matte black with silver flame detailing, shares more than just a vibe—its layout and placement of flames are notably close to the OG Flame Cap version, though Ye’s hat features fewer flame streaks and a sleeker finish.
The perceived similarity may have helped fuel how quickly items sold out—and it’s certainly impacting resale. As of today, listings for Nike’s OG Flame Cap are already popping up on platforms like eBay. Prices have soared past $120 in the Black, Midnight Navy, and Gym Red colorways (which are now on StockX), a steep markup from their original $40 retail price.
Was it the flame design, the color options, or the YEEZY GAP resemblance? Probably all three. But one thing’s for sure—Nike’s OG Flame Cap just became the hottest accessory of the season.
Matching Nike "Flame" socks are also available now online.
