Japanese manga’s most notorious cat robot will be commemorating it’s 50th Anniversary in SB style, with an upcoming Nike SB Dunk High “Doraemon” set to release in celebration over the Summer.
Debuted in 1970, Japanese manga series “Doraemon” has weaved its way into popular culture across the Pacific on many occasions, with the latest being shared by skate videographer Kevin Perez. The Nike SB Dunk High “Doraemon” inherits the iconic character’s colors in a soft suede and leather arrangement — the tongue piping and tag even resemble the cat’s bell collar, although no official Doraemon markings are visible in the shared photos. The timing for such a release is infallible too, as Doraemon was featured in the 2016 Olympics Closing Ceremony promoting a role he would have potentially served in the now-delayed 2020 summer games of Tokyo.
According to Nike SB or Nothing, the “Doraemon” SB Dunk High will hit Orange Label skate shops later this year. As always, keep your eyes glued to our official Twitter account for further updates. Until then, enjoy a first look at the pair here below.
