The new Nike SB Dunk Low "Tourmaline" has been unveiled. sneaker that fuses the rugged charm of the American West with modern streetwear design to honor Black History Month 2025. The pair, initially believed to be part of the Lunar New Year collection, was revealed to pay homage to the often-overlooked history of Black cowboys, a significant cultural narrative that's gaining renewed attention in contemporary art and music.

The sneaker features a bold Tourmaline Green upper crafted from lightly-sueded leather, accented with Monarch Orange piping for a striking contrast. A Baroque Brown heel panel adds depth, while a vibrant red outsole ties the look together with flair. Adding to the design's appeal, a black Swoosh and collar bring a sense of balance, while golden-yellow satin liners introduce a luxurious touch. Thick, rope-like laces amplify both durability and the thematic Western aesthetic.

Details that elevate the design include heel branding styled with a single rope, echoing cowboy lassos, and Sonora-style embroidery complete with a central Western star. These nods to traditional cowboy boots connect the sneaker's aesthetic to the rich traditions of the American West. The insole art furthers this narrative, depicting a cowboy silhouette against a yellow backlit landscape. This image also appears on an included handkerchief, which carries the phrase, “What’s gonna happen is gonna happen,” encapsulating the resilience and acceptance often associated with cowboy culture.

As Nike continues to embrace storytelling through sneaker design, the SB Dunk Low "BHM" stands out as a powerful homage to Black history and cowboy culture, blending heritage with bold contemporary elements.

Expect more confirmation on the design's inspiration to arrive soon. Until then, enjoy a first look at the release below credits to Yenkeekicks/ig.
