Though not a year to celebrate as a whole, 2020 is a significant year of ceremony for Nike. The year has seen two of its favorite Air Max icons in the Air Max 90 and Air Max 95 celebrate big birthdays, each celebrating 30 years and 25 years of existence. But now Nike is shining a light on their close relationship with the nation of Vietnam, a destination in which many of their products you enjoy today have been manufactured. Their first deal with the nation struck back in 1995, making this the 25th year of operation — and so the Swoosh has decided to honor that through a special Nike SB Dunk Low “Vietnam” colorway.
It’s evident that its influence comes from the Vietnamese flag, with not only color schemes mimicked, but also the nation’s Star motif matched perfectly at the right heel. White leather uppers come with flag-matched red overlays and midsoles, while striking black tongues, liners, and laces sit above. Triple-stacked Swooshes arrive reminiscent of past Parra collabs, while other special details include a remixed tongue logo that swaps out the “SB” for the “25”, and a vintage toe box graphic that directly nods to the anniversary. Grab a detailed look at the pair here below, and be sure to keep your eyes locked on our official Twitter account for updates of its release.
