Nike SB Dunk Low “Reverse Papa Bear” Releases May 8th

Though ridiculed at the time for its furry appearance, the 2006 Nike SB “Three Bears” pack was one of the sub-divisions last mainstream hoorahs before it dipped in popularity in favor of Foams, Jordans, and performance hoops offerings. Naturally, as time has moved forward, the three-piece pack that celebrated Mama (Mid), Papa (High), and Baby (Low) bear has grown in notoriety and is reflected in its insanely high aftermarket pricing. Undoubtedly set to ride that wave is this upcoming Nike SB Dunk Low, which pair’s the Bear’s daddy colorway inversed, and in more ordinary materials.

While not an overt or exact homage, the colorway here strikes near all of the same chords. Quite obviously not a High, there are a few other notable tweaks. Colors on the upper, overlays, and sole are reversed, though vibrant Light Fusion Red hits on the Swoosh, and laces remain. Materials change-up, too, with furry uppers replaced by smooth leathers, and overlays and Swooshes arriving in a coarser suede. Tongues are now meshed, not nylon, and contrast stitching on the midsole is reverted to tonal white.
