Nike SB’s skate-shop exclusive Orange Label initiative continues to punch out bangers for their local clientele, with the next offering interestingly inspired by Ken Griffey Jr.’s most significant signature shoe – the Nike Air Griffey Max 1— in it’s iconic “Freshwater” colorway.

The OG turf trainer debuted back in ’96, arriving in colors that matched his then-Mariners unis. This release carries an unmistakable influence, mimicking the slugger’s OG by-way-of teal uppers, black overlays, and bold white Swooshes. Midfoot straps are the dead giveaway, with The Kid’s #24 replaced by numero 58, referring Nike SB’s curated design program created in partnership with skate-shop employees from stores of distinction.

Pairs are pegged for release in select skate stores this April — but with the current global crisis surrounding COVID-19, things may likely change. As with any Orange Label release, it’s always best to check in with your local for details.

Update 03.25.20 IIt appears that some non-skate shop retailers will be getting the “Griffey” Nike SB Dunk Mid, with international retailers Caliroots listing the pair for an April 1st release. They have also provided a gallery of detailed looks below! At this stage, most local skate shops have dropped their pairs, so if any further online retailers surface over the coming days, we’ll be sure to keep you updated both here and on our official Twitter account.
