The Nike Shox franchise was born in the year 2000 as an imaginative solution for those looking for different cushioning while running. Although the series also ventured into the world of basketball, it didn't take off like other offerings from the era.
The last year has seen a number of retro Shox products step into the spotlight once again. The Nike Sportswear division has repositioned the Shox R4, for example, as a fashionable folks' sneaker, marketing it towards women. The Kendrick Lamar-approved design will return in its inaugural "Black/Light Crimson/Black/Metallic Silver" color scheme.
As was the case 25 years ago, the layered upper opts for a two-tone finish, with profile panels donning a shimmering metallic look rooted in turn-of-the-century aesthetics. The piston-shaped Shox technology at the heel favors ruby-colored flair. The result is a familiar design that fits in with current trends.
