Nike Tennis Recalls Back to the Future With Mag-Inspired Vapor 12
Nike Tennis might be overshadowed in large part by the 2026 World Cup™, but that isn't stopping the small-scale team from prepping compelling product. Case in point?: A new Zoom Vapor 12 Hypersmash in a color scheme inspired by the Nike Mag auto-lacing shoe debuted in 1989's Back to the Future II film.
Over the years, the Swoosh has implemented the color scheme of Marty McFly's futuristic pair across a number of products—from basketball shoes to skateboarding-ready styles. The "Jetstream/White/Photo Blue" makeover tends to bring delight to diehard and casual footwear-enthusiasts alike as it's transcended the niche space to become a pop culture sensation. Its appearance on the Vapor 12 should be no different, allowing athletes who already swear by the modern tennis shoe to steal attention with their gear as well as their game.
The bulk of the performance-first silhouette opts for a muted grey that allows for hits of light blue to revel in the spotlight. Torsion-oriented elements underfoot also indulge in "Photo Blue" flair, with midsole components introducing a speckled finish into the mix. Non-functional "lights" appear on the spine overlay, nodding to the Nike Mag worn by McFly.
Lastly, the "Nike" branding on the tongue takes after the Back to the Future title card, with a gradient orange-and-yellow finish.
Enjoy official photos of the thematic Vapor 12 tennis shoe ahead. Pairs should release via Nike.com by the end of August.
