Nike is bringing one of its strangest performance crossovers back into view.
The Nike Vapor X Posite is expected to return this August, reviving the basketball-meets-tennis hybrid that once quietly blended Foamposite DNA with NikeCourt tooling. On paper, it sounds almost too odd to work: the molded-shell language of the Air Foamposite One, rebuilt for the speed, lateral movement, and court coverage of tennis. In hand, though, it makes a lot more sense than it probably should.
Two colorways are currently on the way, led by a familiar “Copper” finish that immediately calls back to one of Foamposite’s most recognizable non-OG looks. The pair pairs its metallic copper shell with a black lace collar, black mesh, black overlays, and soft blue translucent outsole pieces. Copper detailing also appears on the tongue stripe, pull tabs, and small forefoot Swoosh, tying the entire execution back to the Foamposite world without needing to copy the original Air Foamposite One outright.
The second pair takes a louder route, replacing the copper shell with a bright “Metallic Orange” finish. That version keeps the same black upper setup, but swaps in orange branding, orange tongue striping, and red-accented pull tabs for a much sharper court presence. Both pairs also feature one of the model’s most important details: the Nike Tennis logo on the tongue and heel, replacing Penny Hardaway’s traditional 1 Cent mark.

The original Vapor X Posite release was easy to miss, but it lives long in folklore. Despite arriving in an OG-inspired Royal colorway, the model never received a major Nike.com push and instead surfaced quietly through outlets and off-price channels.
The timing also works in Nike’s favor. Foamposite has been building real momentum again through a mix of well-timed retros, fan-favorite returns, and new colorways that have reintroduced the molded basketball classic to a wider audience. Bringing that language back through a tennis lens gives the Vapor X Posite a more relevant runway than it had the first time around.
There’s also the calendar to consider. With the U.S. Open set to take over New York in August, the return of a Foamposite-inspired NikeCourt model feels far more intentional than random. It is still one of Nike’s stranger court experiments, but this time the Vapor X Posite arrives with Foamposite energy on the rise and tennis entering its biggest American moment of the year.
The Nike Vapor X Posite “Copper” and Nike Vapor X Posite “Metallic Orange” are expected to release on August 30, 2026, for $170 each. Stay tuned for confirmed Nike.com and retailer release details.
