Nike Running may no longer see it as the pinnacle of its performance footwear lineup, but the Zoom Vomero 5 continues to deliver reliable comfort to folks 14 yers after its debut. Recently, the plush retro emerged in a "Pure Platinum/University Blue" makeover that harkens back to its running origins.
Reminiscent of other brightly-accented finishes donning "Metallic Silver" overlays, the newly-surfaced Cushlon-cushioned sneaker features a mix of retro tones across its performance-informed upper. The profile "cages" indulge in the same "University Blue" set to land on the Air Jordan 1 "UNC Reimagined" pair, while the breathable mesh and other components across the upper divvy up greyscale hues. The result is a visual that seems in place with current footwear trends while honoring the heritage that came before them.
The aforementioned Cushlon foam—a predecessor to the ZoomX compound found in the lightweight VaporFly 4—takes on a "colorless" finish that allows for the bold blue lugs underfoot to bring some of the upper's flair to the bottom-half.
