Virgil van Dijk Previews Patta & Nike's 2026 World Cup™ Collection for the Netherlands

The Netherlands isn't heading into the 2026 World Cup™ as tournament-favorites, but the "Oranje" are looking to make a statement during the event. Ahead of the competition's start, Virgil van Dijk has helped unveil a special pre-match and fan collection for the Netherlands by Nike and Patta.

The Netherlands captain recently appeared on the cover of Fantastic Man, an Amsterdam-based magazine that's been operating since 2005. There, van Dijk suited up in a never-before-seen football shirt that features Swoosh, KNVB, and Patta branding. Additionally, the Dutch footballer modeled a lion-donning Nike jacket and hooded sweater—items made in collaboration between the Swoosh, Patta, and KNVB as part of what's being referred to as the "Unmatched Pre-Match" Collection.

These items were preceded by a Patta x Nike Cryo Shot collaboration teased by Patta co-founder Guillaume "Gee" Schmidt during the 2025 UEFA Champions League Final. The silhouette forms part of a larger fashion-inspired football project for the 2026 World Cup™, which invites eight different collaborators to rework the Cryo Shot and apparel for relevant national teams.

Schmidt and Edson Sabajo have been tasked to work on items for the Netherlands given the country is Patta's home base. Similarly, the Virgil Abloh Archive™ and Palace will work on World Cup™ collections for the U.S. and England, respectively.

Patta's work for the Royal Dutch Football Association is stepped in national identity. Every piece that's surfaced thus far indulges in eye-catching Oranje heritage, while the Dutch Republic Lion makes its way onto numerous designs.

Stay tuned for firm Nike.com release details and official photos of the "Unmatched Pre-Match" collaboration. Van Dijk, Cody Gakpo, Memphis Depay, and the rest of Ronald Koeman's men are expected to wear Patta's designs throughout the World Cup™.
