New York City native, Scarr Pimentel, might've not known it at the time, but he was helping change the landscape of his hometown's pizza scene when he opened Scarr's Pizza in 2016. Located in the Lower East Side area of Manhattan, the shop's been serving slices to countless folks—including Tyler, the Creator and the late DJ Clark Kent. Pimentel's friendship with the latter figure led to a Nike Air Force 1 Low collaboration in 2019, which recently surfaced in a "Black" version.
Unveiled by Pimentel at Complex's Family Style Food Festival over the weekend, the pair features all the bells-and-whistles featured on the first Scarr's Pizza pair gifted to Friends & Family of the shop. Effectively also a love letter to New York, the limited edition sneaker features blue-and-orange accents throughout the upper, which derives from the city's flag and is associated with the Knicks, Mets, and Islanders sports franchises. The project's high-quality leather build and tried-and-proven sole unit exchanges a clean "White" finish for pitch-dark components on the sequel.
As with its predecessor, it's likely the second Scarr's Pizza Air Force 1 is limited to less than 50 pairs, which should be gifted to select members of Pimentel's circle. Only 48 pairs of the original were produced, with one pair ultimately selling via a Sotheby's auction in 2021; the sneaker sold for over $121,000.
