Virgil Abloh's collection of over 20,000 personal mementos and design samples will be on display from Sept. 30-Oct. 10 at Paris' Grand Palais. The Virgil Abloh: The Codes exhibition builds on a retrospective of the same name first presented in 2022.
Curated by Virgil Abloh Archive™ and organized with help from the Virgil Abloh Foundation and Nike, The Codes explores almost two decades of the former Off-White™ frontman's life and work. As uncovered by Samuel Hine for GQ, the VAA™ includes never-before-seen Prada x Nike pitch decks, archival clothing, and prototypes for the industry-pausing Louis Vuitton Air Force 1 collaboration.
The latest installment of The Codes brings an exhibition devoted to Abloh's influential work to Europe for the first time.
"This exhibit is just the beginning of our work to share Virgil's legacy and principles with the creative community and the broader world," shared Shannon Abloh, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Virgil Abloh Securities, Founder and Board President of the Virgil Abloh Foundation, President and Chair of Virgil Abloh Archive™. "Sharing his personal collection, unfinished projects, and magnum opuses with the public is how we celebrate Virgil's legacy and his commitment to making information accessible and collaborative. Through the Archive™, Virgil will live on as a source of inspiration and beacon of creative knowledge."
It's uncertain whether or not special product will be on sale as part of the 11-day exhibition, which kicks off on what would've been Abloh's 45th birthday, but history suggests it likely.
