The enduring collaboration between tennis powerhouse Serena Williams and Nike is poised to serve another ace with a fresh take on the women's exclusive Nike Dunk Low Disrupt 2 under the Serena Williams Design Crew (SWDC) banner.
Embodying an innovative and vibrant design ethos, the SWDC team has adeptly blended form and function to create a sneaker that encapsulates Serena's electrifying spirit on and off the court.
The new SWDC x Nike Dunk Low Disrupt brings a clever spin to the established model, taking key details and amplifying them in unexpected ways. Retaining the signature asymmetrical lacing system and added panels at the toebox and heel, the shoe exudes an avant-garde aesthetic that aligns with both Disrupt's design philosophy and Serena's audacious on-court persona.
The design then introduces a topographic-like pattern debossed into the sundial suede mudguard and heel overlay. This innovative touch injects depth and texture into the sneaker's design, creating a tactile surface that invites exploration.
Further enriching the visual narrative, the eyestays and heel overlays are mismatched, flipping color placement between the left and right shoe for a playful and unique contrast. The iconic Nike Swoosh is outlined in vibrant yellow, punctuating the crisp white midfoot panel and enhancing the shoe's dynamic profile.
Additional pops of color are introduced via a pink Nike tag on the purple tongue, injecting fun and vitality into the mix. Tying it all together, the design is anchored by a white midsole accented with teal stitching, culminating in a semi-translucent blue outsole that subtly ties in with the overarching color scheme.
Scheduled to launch on September 14, 2023, the SWDC x Nike Dunk Low Disrupt 2 will be available through Nike.com and select stockists, retailing at $120.
The pair will be joined by a SWDC x Nike Air Huarache, a SWDC x Nike Air Max 1, and likely an accompanying apparel collection.
