The 2025 MLB season is fast-approaching, with teams set to commence their 162 game run on Thursday, March 27. Before playing their first domestic game of the season, the Los Angeles Dodgers and Chicago Cubs will face off in Japan's Tokyo Dome as part of the 2025 MLB World Tour. To commemorate the occasion, the League has partnered with Complex and Fanatics to bring Takashi Murakami's beloved floral artwork to an array of exclusive products – including jerseys of the aforementioned iconic teams.
The partnership was announced via Fanatics' official Instagram account. Complex, a leader in the streetwear and sneaker culture space, was pivotal to the collaboration. In 2018, the Mark Ecko-founded outlet tapped the famed Japanese artist to serve as its ComplexCon's creative director. Murakami's playful, colorful art animated promotional materials, in-person sets, and merchandise linked to the event. His star has only grown since then.
Fanatics has shared that the fashion-forward linkup will bring Murakami's signature style to an array of products. So far, only updates to the Dodgers and Cubs' Nike-produced baseball jerseys have been revealed. Each team's iconic color schemes and logos reprise their traditional roles, and are accompanied by floral motifs that've made the 63-year-old creative a household name. A special badge for the Tokyo Series lands on the right arm, commemorating the game in the Far East.
The MLB's 2025 Tokyo Series collection in partnership with Complex will release on Friday, March 7, via the Fanatics app.
