Through his footwear collaborations with Nike, Tom Sachs has shown a penchant for all-encompassing footwear, inclusive of lifestyle-first Mars Yards, to literal moon boots. For 2022, the American artist has taken a more versatile approach with the impending Tom Sachs x Nike General Purpose Shoe — a multi-functional footwear delivery for all occasions. Now, after revealing itself in a light and royal blue iteration, a second colorway has appeared, with this one donning a more familiar wheat-yellow and orange combo that’s more in line with the iconic Mars Yard aesthetic.

The design aesthetically leans heavily towards the Nike Killshot, with almost identical design lines, before Tom tacks on a few extra overlays and guards. He’s ripped open the liners on both the collar and tongue for a worn-in feel and added a handful of signature Sachs details. Nodding the inspiring design, Sachs has utilized retrospective materials, with nylon uppers and suede overlays reminiscent of the Killshot’s early era — here in golden sulfur. It’s trimmed with heritage orange pulls, and rests atop a sail and black waffle outsole.
