Official Looks at Tom Sachs’ Nike Mars Yard Overshoe
Visionary artist Tom Sachs has now created three collaborations with Nike, but this one has to be his wildest one yet. He extends his Mars Yard landscape with this new Overshoe.
It’s meant to protect your feet against all climates, but we’re not too sure you’d want to be rocking these in the New York Subway in the middle of July. These are obviously more suited to the miserable month of March, or for walking on the moon.
The construction begins with the Mars Yard 2.0 from 2017, with an oversized shroud built with various types of nylon and polyester for fully fledged protection. It arrives with two Fidlock magnetic buckles to keep the wrap firm in place and to keep that nasty weather out.
There’s a diagram below that can explain it a hell of a lot better than I can, because, well, there’s a hell of a lot going on.
After a pair? The Tom Sachs x Nike Mars Yard Overshoe will first release on October 11th exclusively at Dover Street Market London via an online raffle. As for the rest of us Stateside, we’re still waiting the specifics, but expect that it won’t be too far behind that.
