Nike, Inc. is no stranger to working with world-renowned artists on footwear, apparel, and accessories that blend sport with art. Having previously worked with KAWS and Dave White, the Oregon-based conglomerate may have a Dunk Low project with the Van Gogh Museum® in the works.
Official communication from either party has yet to surface, but Netherlands-based sample collector and resale shop ATTAPREBOUND recently took to social media to unveil a Vangogh-branded sneaker. The pair features the Dutch last name on the tongue label, which sees an off white color and abstract-patterned backdrop. Unlike a collaboration with Vans, the newly-surfaced pair doesn't include Van Gogh Museum® logos on the footbed, raising questions about the project's nature. What's undeniable, however, is that the unreleased Nike Dunk Low features colors found in some of Vincent van Gogh's most iconic paintings.

Blue, golden yellow, drab green, and red appear on the 40-year-old footwear silhouette, seemingly drawing inspiration from three emblematic pieces by van Gogh: The Starry Night (inner lining and profile swooshes); Sunflowers (leather upper's two-tone finish); and The Red Vineyard (laces).
As aforementioned, a link between the famed artist and Swoosh has yet to be disclosed by either party involved, but the connection seems sensical. It's also possible that the sneaker is born out of Nike's partnership with the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), an institution that's worked with the brand to sell co-branded products, exhibit original designs, and host community events. New York City's museum currently has The Starry Night on display.
Stay tuned for firm details surrounding the eyebrow-raising project.
