2020 was yet another big year for atmos, as was it an eventful one for Jeff Staple — the latter making headlines for all the wrong reasons. Overshadowed by Jeff’s well-documented link-up with Warren Lotas was the two’s take on the New Balance X-Racer. The Japan-exclusive release saw atmos and Staple supply the then-new silhouette with Jeff’s signature pigeon motif joined by grey and pink hues. For 2021, they’ll be finishing a PUMA suede in a similar arrangement, though this time with a more traditional touch.

Unveiled by way of atmos creative director Hirofumi Kojima, the pair leads with signature iconography; The classic Staple Pigeon embellishes the lateral ankle to opposite to a blacked-out crow on the medial, both met at the ankle by PUMA’s signature jumping cat. Uppers of a creamy beige suede link with familiar hues of grey (eyelet overlays), black (shaggy suede heel caps), and pink (leather liners) to complete the signature aesthetic. Differentiating the sides of the pigeon and the crow are mismatched midfoot overlays, the lateral in a rich chocolate brown leather, while the medial appears to be decked out in a camo-like arrangement. Then, the pair is completed by a dark grey sole unit beneath.

Update 02.22.21 atmos Tokyo has revealed a release date for their collaboration with Staple and PUMA for February 27th. Full, detailed looks at the pair have also materialized. A wider, global release has not yet been confirmed, so sure to keep your eyes glued to our official Twitter account for further updates.
