Since its founding in 1948, PUMA has delivered high-performing, boundary-pushing products to the masses. Along the way, the German institution has brought together technology and sport, offering items like the first running sneaker to feature a computer in 1985.
Ahead of summer, the storied brand has announced a partnership with Mark Zuckerberg's Meta to provide audiences with an all-new way of shopping. With the help of Meta Quest, fans of the Big Cat Brand can now browse, try on, and buy products in mixed virtual reality.
One of the more impressive aspects of the burgeoning relationship is the ability to use the Meta Quest headset to measure your foot to ensure the best-fitting shoe purchases.
Currently, the dynamic WebXR-powered shop is focused on the All-Pro NITRO™ basketball shoe, but it's likely to expand to Tyrese Haliburton's PUMA Hali 1, the signature sneaker debuted in time for the 2024-25 NBA Finals.
"PUMA has always pushed the boundaries of digital innovation," shared Ivan Dashkov, Head of Emerging Marketing Tech at the brand. "With this new WebXR experience, we’re exploring what the future of online shopping can look like—giving consumers the ability to explore, interact, and engage with the brand in far more meaningful ways than traditional e-commerce. They can even measure their foot size in a fully immersive environment. This is a step toward the future of retail, and we’re excited to bring it to life with Meta."
