The NBA’s best basketball players took the hardwood in Cleveland last night for a night of show-stopping highlights in the annual All-Star Game, as well as a celebration of the league’s 75th-anniversary team.
The half-time honor was by far and away the biggest event of the night, with legends like Allen Iverson, Dennis Rodman, Magic Johnson, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and Michael Jordan all in attendance — but the game itself was no slouch — especially in the second half. Team LeBron came out on top, and Steph Curry took home the event’s MVP with a 50-point, 15 three-pointer performance. For us here at House of Heat, we were more focused on the battle of the sneakers, and to be honest, it was fairly split.
Gone are the days of a decade ago, where All-Star packs were the norm, this year saw a fairly tame bunch of kicks, though there were a few highlights, namely LeBron James, Devin Booker, and DeMar DeRozan — even Khris Middleton called in a favor to ex-teammate and sneaker legend PJ Tucker for the night. Jordan Brand once again fitted out their athletes in PE pairs, whilst less-loved hardwood brands like Li-Ning, New Balance, Under Armour — and even PEAK — had their time to shine.
