First Looks at LaMelo Ball’s Signature PUMA MB1 Sneaker

Earlier this year, it was reported that 2021 NBA Rookie of the Year LaMelo Ball will be releasing his first signature sneaker later this year. Ball, who signed with PUMA before playing a single game in the NBA, joins Breanna Stewart as the first brand athletes to receive a signature model in a long, long time (if you don’t count J Cole, that is.)

Unlike the man himself, the expectations of his signature PUMA model have not been set too high — but a first look at the pair has literally shattered anything one would expect — and then some. The PUMA MB1 sneaker was unveiled by Ball himself yesterday, courtside at the NBA Summer League. Spotted here in an almost all-red arrangement, the mid-cut design shows a lightweight ripstop-like upper layer with medial, lateral, and toe overlays, with plush mesh tongues, and diamond designs etched into the lateral midsole rise. There’s a mythical phoenix design in black across the tongue shroud, resting below tongues that rear “1 of 1”. The same individual statement can be seen on the medial toe in tonal red glaze, with further reinforcement of the message at the vamp reading “Not from here” Finally — and one of the nicest inclusions of the design — is a mini forefoot PUMA motif instead of the brand’s signature sweep across the profile panel.

Grab a first look at LaMelo’s PUMA MB1 here below, and look to learn more about its release in the coming weeks and months. As always, keep your eyes glued to our official Twitter account for updates.
