Way back in 2001, Reeboklaunched a campaign that focused on cultural and gender stereotypes. It was called “It’s a Woman’s World,” and it gained some serious momentum thanks to its fearless female figures in Venus Williams, Jennifer Azzo and Missy Elliot. 19 years on from the campaign, women still face issues in what is still considered to be a man’s world. Today, the brand revisits its defiant initiative with the help of five women spanning the male-dominated music and art industries as part of the new “It’s A Man’s World” campaign.
Unlike its first iteration, Reebok turns over some of their most revered silhouettes for the collaborators to style in their own unique way. Beat-maker Wondagurl and Girl On Kicks owner Sanne Poeze have tweaked the Aztrek ’96 and DMX, respectively, while Jazerai Allen-Lord – AKA NerdLikeJazzy – has done her thing on the Club C. Kimberly Drew – AKA MuseumMammy – freshens-up the Freestyle Hi; and Anhia Zaira Santana – aka Distortedd – has illustrated the Instapump Fury. The latter is clearly the most audacious of the bunch, dedicating her pair to her unique illustrative style. Arriving influenced by a mix of skate culture, childhood cartoons, and the underground art scene in her hometown. The Philly-born artist decorates her pair with graffiti-style tentacles and eyeballs done in turquoise, purple, and orange palette that pops off a blank canvas base. It’s complemented by soft pink and teal at the toe and heel, with lavender midfoot hardware and matching outsoles to complete the design.
Take a peep at the pair in detail below, and you can grab this unisex Instapump Fury and the rest of the “It’s A Man’s World” collection right now, right here at Reebok.com.
