Standing at 7-foot-1-inch, Shaquille O'Neal is larger-than-life. His on-court dominance throughout 19 NBA seasons made him a force to be reckoned with while gaining him worldwide recognition. His numerous business ventures and lighthearted antics outside of basketball have cemented him as one of the most beloved celebrities across the globe. Over the last year, The Hershey Company has helped reaffirm O'Neal's popularity with Shaq-A-Licious, a line of oversized gummies inspired by "Diesel" himself.
Yesterday, Sept. 29, the former Los Angeles Laker and renowned candy manufacturer introduced a new offering under their burgeoning partnership. Whereas the original Shaq-A-Licious XL Gummies are shaped like O'Neal's head, the all-new product draws inspiration from SHAQ® Footwear—specifically the budget-friendly line's Devastator. The sneaker-shaped gummies arrive in three bold flavors fit for O'Neal: mango (orange), lime (green), and strawberry (red).
Over the last year, Shaq's face-shaped candy became The Hershey Company's top-selling sweets launch, moving more than 11 million units. Shaq-A-Licious XL Gummies in Sneaker Shapes looks to repeat history, blending sports, fashion, and fun in the process.
To kick-off their latest project, O'Neal and Hershey headed to New York City, bringing the flavorful sweets to the people. Shaq made an appearance at the legendary West 4th Cage basketball court and Basketball City at Pier 36, pulling up in a mobile gummy-sneaker truck. There, he unveiled his new Shaq-A-Licious candy and sneaker collab, gifting folks both.
Enjoy some recap visuals of the occasion ahead, followed by images of the gummies. The sneaker-shaped candy, its Original and Sour counterparts, are now available at select retailers nationwide.
