Umbro Announces Collaboration with Mexico's Peso Pluma

Umbro, the English sportswear and equipment brand founded in 1924, recently announced a collaboration with regional Mexican musical act Peso Pluma. The project will be exclusively unveiled and released at ComplexCon Las Vegas, which takes place from Saturday, Oct. 25, to Sunday, Oct. 26.

Touted as a linkup between "Two global icons," the collab is the century-old company's latest effort to appeal to an audience outside its core demographic. Prior to launching its Autumn/Winter 2025 collection, Umbro launched a football-inspired capsule with Michael Cherman's Market. The project remixed long-beloved designs from the English company while offering consumers trendy shirts, shorts, and other pieces. Umbro's linkup with Peso Pluma seems to have a similar aim.

Product has yet to be unveiled, but the collab's initial teaser clip showcases what seems like the Peso Pluma-frontman—Hassan Emilio Kabande Laija—striking a football. A longtime fan of the sport and former prospect within Mexico's Liga MX academy system, the regional Mexican singer is a sensical candidate to help Umbro gain popularity amongst new consumers—specifically within the Americas. The 2026 FIFA World Cup™ tournament will be held between Canada, the U.S., and Mexico, making the collab's timing strategic.

It's unlikely Doble P ("Double P") kicks off a long-term, exclusive partnership with Umbro with the impending drop. At one point, it seemed Peso Pluma would follow in J Balvin's footsteps, becoming a Latin-American figure signed with Nike, Inc.; he was consistently spotted in gear from Drake's Nike NOCTA label. Over the last year, however, the 26-year-old artist has been spotted in Adidas Originals with some frequency, likely informed by his girlfriend's, Kenia Os, deal with the Three Stripes. A quick glance at his Instagram, however, reveals that the Éxodo artist is a free agent, rocking ASICS, Nike, and his fair share of designer brands.
