Adidas Basketball's future is looking bright. Anthony Edwards continues to be a formidable force on-the-court, while German-American WNBA star Satou Sabally joins as its newest athlete. And while the Three Stripes is committed to what's to come, it hasn't shied away from revisiting its past.
Recently, official product photography has revealed the Adidas Crazy 2 in an understated 'Grey Five/Core Black/Zero Metallic' colorway. Those familiar with the late Kobe Bryant's signature footwear will immediately recognize the pair as the Kobe 2–a design that debuted for the Los Angeles Lakers legend back in 2001. The sneaker's name was changed once Bryant switched sides to the Swoosh in 2003.
The Crazy 2 was–and arguable continues to be–one of the most polarizing basketball sneaker designs when it hit the hardwood 24 years ago. Oftentimes referred to as a 'toaster', the model has laid the foundation for Adidas Basketball's Crazy IIINFINITY, a modern take rooted in heritage. The upcoming style keeps the shoe's DNA intact, with plush leather across the upper and lining opting for varying shades of 'Core Black'. Underfoot, the retro sole unit also partakes in the reserved color palette, even though its aesthetic makes a statement.
Enjoy detailed shots of the Crazy 2 ahead, as you wait for an Adidas.com launch. The retro basketball shoe should arrive with a price of $160.
