There’s been a strong push for retro 80s hoops shoes of late, with the evergreen Air Jordan 1 joined in demand by the likes of the Nike Dunk and the recently-reissued New Balance 550. For adidas, after a few moments with the Top Ten, their focus has seemingly shifted to the Forum. In support of the revival, the Three Stripes has enlisted the help from the likes of Beyonce and global retailers like BSTN and SVD — but for OG fans of the era, there’s nothing quite like the original — in this case, inspired by the original.
For those of you playing at home, yes, this did release as a High just last month, but adidas will also be bringing the vintage age-look to the Low, too. Once again taking the OG White/Blue colorway from 1984, adidas has adjusted the construction for an in-vogue pre-aged look. White leathers are replaced by one donning an off-white tint with rough-cut tan edging, while midfoot Three Stripes and rear guard and ankle overlays are swapped from leather to suede. A sail lace swap and tinted midsoles complete the heritage vibe. I’ve personally got the High from last month, and its construction and attention to detail are remarkable — you won’t find any other sneaker arriving as good as these.
Fans of the classic hoops shoe can pick these up right now from Aussie retailers HYPE DC, from Euro retailers 43einhalb on January 13th, and select global retailers and adidas.com at a later date.
