Available Now // Bronx-Homaged adidas Rivalry Low “The 5”

Late last year, adidas trialed out a new method of releasing sneakers: locally-exclusive Easter Egg hunts. Their “The 5” campaigned kicked off in New York City, with five ultra-limited pairs of Rivalry Lows celebrating the city’s five boroughs were given to ambassadors to sell to those who could hunt them down. Weird, I know. Face-to-face meetups in this day and age is a bold move — and with safety a big concern, it may have not been as successful as the Three Stripes had hoped. But through all of that, there is some good news — especially for those living outside of the Big Apple — their Knicks-themed “Bronx” pair is up for grabs right now on adidas’ official website.

Originally limited to only 1500 pairs each, it appears that adidas have caved and gone for a fully-fledged release of the Royal, Orange, and Black-based Rovalrys. The pair does a good job at switching things up, with blue uppers featuring suede in the rear ad leather up front, with profile Three Stripe hits also opting for alternating Leather and Suede on the lateral and medial respectively. Black tumbled leathers grace the eyelet, toe and heel overlays, while a smooth orange leather covers the heel collar. Completing the design is a two-tone sole unit, “The 5”-branded tongue tag and a specail graphic insole print featuring the city’s five locales.
