Adidas Originals Introduces the Stan Smith Low Ballet, Its Latest Mary Jane-Inspired Design for Women
Adidas Originals continues to reimagine some of its most important and iconic performance footwear products as fashion-friendly, innovative options for lifestyle use. The Stan Smith Low Ballet is its latest experiment.
Exclusively designed in Women's sizing, the silhouette arrives right on time to take on the unshakable Mary Jane footwear trend. Styles like the Samba Jane have already allowed the Three Stripes to disrupt the segment a bit, although the competition is stiff. The Adidas Stan Smith Low Ballet follows a similar design guide as the reworked football trainer, but doubles-down on the balletcore aesthetic.
The beloved tennis shoe from over 50 years ago maintains its classic 'Footwear White' leather upper, setting the stage for the slightest bit of contrast to pop. Perforations across the profiles harken back to the model's performance origins, while the lack of tongue and laces, and reworked collar firmly cement the shoe as a modern proposal for fashionable women. A seam down the middle of the toe evoke images of the Tabi shoes popularized by Maison Margiela within the high-fashion space. A red-colored strip lines the area traditionally along the tongue and collar, while a Mary Jane-reminiscent, Velcro-assisted strap runs across the top of the shoe. Trefoil logos appear on the Achilles' heel, while the Stan Smith's court-informed outsole reprises its role (albeit thinner than on standard versions of the model).
Firm Adidas.com release details haven't been disclosed by the brand yet, but the Women's Stan Smith Low Ballet should arrive throughout summer. Pricing is expected between $70 and $100.
