It’s a frequent occurrence for footwear brands to look inward and backward for inspiration, especially when it comes to contemporary designs. For adidas, it’s more often than not the heralded ZX lineagethat’s a constant, either interpreting others or lending its own DNA to others. Here, the latter applies, with three of the most iconic ZX silhouettes and their OG colorways transferring to the Ultra BOOST 1.0 for a special-edition collection.
Here, the OG ultra BOOST design reimagines the ZX 8000 “Aqua”, as well as OG ZX 9000 and ZX 6000 colorways for a homage-packed collection. Though the UB design is not altered from its original form, it does manage to capture the essence of the original ZX releases with amazing attention to detail — including Torsion-inspired dubraes, and even coloring of the underfoot cavity to channel the original tech.
Update 04.30.21 adidas US has just confirmed a Stateside release for the adidas Ultra BOOST ZX Collection, with pairs arriving on May 7th.
