Brain Dead continues to experiment with Adidas Originals heritage, promising to release two refreshing takes on the decades-old Taekwondo silhouette.
The last nine months have seen the label rework classics like the Forest Hills and Japan, drawing inspiration from nature, wrestling, and everything-in-between. A throughout backstory to Brain Dead's Taekwondo duo has yet to surface, but it seems the project is rooted in the friction between vintage craftsmanship and modern technology. A "Silver Metallic" option sees a reinforced upper and reliable sole unit accompanied by a chip of sorts placed in the lace cover—think Adidas Micropacer from 1984. It's possible the enclosed piece of tech doubles as an example of Kyle Ng and team's curiosity, as well as a performance-oriented element on the fashion-friendly collab.
By comparison, the accompanying "Core Black" Taekwondo indulges in a much more traditional execution. Interestingly enough, it abandons the lace cover and chip in favor of a standard tongue-and-laces setup.
Enjoy e-commerce photos of the footwear duo ahead. Pairs should release via Brain Dead channels and Adidas.com before December arrives.
